Regarding our current challenge at Schnecksville FD, I wish to post that you should gather pertinent information on the roof failure from our Facebook page or website. Other posts may be purely speculative and some of the rumors flying about are truly creative.
First and foremost, the response areas of the structure are not affected. Emergency response capabilities remain at previous levels.
We are awaiting the final report from the engineer engaged to investigate the matter. It will contain the facts germane to the incident. Suffice it to say the collapse was caused by weather and insurance will cover much of the damages. All salvageable items have been removed from the structure and are in safe storage. Removal of the debris should begin any day so that the rest of the affected structure [kitchen, club etc.] can be evaluated. A building committee has already been formed to guide the re-build.
The Company personnel are working very hard to allow us to continue to hold events in our 60' x 100' pavilion. Fire Company meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM in the pavilion. We're hopeful more community members will take in interest in the progress.
We certainly are appreciative of the support from everyone and hope to count on you in future. It's anticipated that a donation funding mechanism will be in place soon. In the interim, if you wish to make a tax deductible donation via the Paypal button on this page, simply specify it is for the roof repair, and your gift will be placed n the proper fund.
